After Thornridge, I got to participate in another great running program at Eastern Illinois University - NCAA cross country champs 1977.

I have volunteered with USA Track and Field and for about 20 years, wrote a column called "Speedplay."

I have had many great running memories of my own, but it is exciting to share in "new" memories created by my family.

I need a hell of a lot more than 8000 characters to fill this space. Maybe each one of us should share one old memory once a month. That would be some good reading.

Thornridge was a great character-building time in my life and it will always be a part of me. I proudly tell my Northwest Suburban friends that you can take the man out of the South Side, but thank God you can't take the South Side out of the man.
